Janice’s writing brought the life of a small country town in that era to brilliant life. So much research has clearly gone in to the writing and the addition of original photos was fascinating. BIO
Janice Newnham is a veterinarian by profession and a farmer, wife, and mother by passion. She runs a cattle farm in a picturesque valley in Walwa, in the Upper Murray. Between farm and family commitments, Janice is a community advocate and volunteer. Janice is keen on art and photography, capturing images of the spectacular local environment, dogs, family, and her "girls" (the cows). She has dabbled in creative writing over the years with the makings of a novel stalled in her head for over a decade. The 2019/20 Black Summer Fires devastated the Upper Murray and the Newnham property.
The disaster triggered Janice to commit to writing as a form of therapy and she has since self-published two books.
From The Inside is a raw and confronting reflection of the Newnham family’s experience during the Black Summer Bush fires.
White Lies – Where There Is Smoke, is a novel based on a true story; a murder mystery set in 1939 in the aftermath of the Black Friday fires.
The books have been well received and readers have been clamouring for more. Janice is keen to continue a quest to bring local history and mysteries to life in colourful and engaging novels.... stand by for more!
